Sell Digital Products Online (The World’s Easiest Form of Passive Income)
Today, I’m going to walk through a dead-simple, “bulls-eye” approach to selling digital products online and building passive income.
This simple but ultra-effective process will prove to be the easiest (and quickest) form of passive income you’ve ever encountered.
Digital products are easy to make, have incredibly low overhead, provide unlimited supply, low maintenance, high profit margins and provide instant gratification for your customers.
— There’s nothing else that exist quite like this.
And with the steps you’re about to learn, you won’t need to gamble on paid advertising, use clickbait “lead magnets”, construct complicated sales funnels or use fake guru marketing tactics — and you can scale up to whatever passive income amount you desire.
Here’s a real life example of what’s possible with the right system:
You’ll be able to make money while you sleep (or travel the world, raise your family, party, start a charity — whatever floats your boat).
The problem is that most quit before things takes off for them. They think success will somehow happen overnight, rather than having a super simple long-term plan they can consistently build selling digital products.
ANYONE can put these 4 simple steps to action and make $1k – $30k per month selling digital products.
Here’s the game plan:
- Nail down a profitable niche
- Build a small army of super fans
- Recommend affiliate products to them
- Sell your own digital products when the time is right
Sounds simple enough? This is the complete overview of how myself and so many others are creating passive income selling digital products online.
Let’s break it down:
⚡Step 1. Figure out who’s going to be your customers by nailing down a profitable niche
You’re not in business if you don’t have any customers right?
So let’s find them!
The “gurus” are going to tell you to pick a niche — I sorta agree.
I suggest you start with 3 niches — then combine them to create your own
⚡Here’s how to do it:
- Pick a niche you have the most knowledge or are best at
Example: My best work is in content creation, I have 20+ years experience and I’m most known for the work I produce in this niche - Pick a niche you most interested in (think hobbies or what type of stuff distracts you most)
Example: I work religiously on personal growth & self improvement. If I was a billionaire and didn’t have to work, I’d do THIS all day — sun up to sun down. - Pick a niche you think makes a TON of money
Example: I know 7 of the top 10 richest people on Forbe’s List are in disruptive tech, that tells me that if I want to make a boatload of money in 2022 — it better involve tech.
If you’re having a hard time Google Trends is a great free tool to give you some ideas and help find the perfect “name” of your niche.
Once you have all 3 niches, find something to write on.
4. Draw three big circles and name each circle with one of your niches

Now focus on where the niches intersect.
5. Jot down some ideas of where those niches overlap.

6. Jot down any ideas that come to mind where all three intersect.

It’s ok if you don’t come up with a lot of ideas for the centerpiece. You only need 2-3.
These ideas make your approach unique to you and the value you’ll provide:
- They encompass elements where you have most expertise, you’re most interested and can likely make the most money.
Now that you know your niche it’s time to find the audience within the niche for you to serve 👇🏾
⚡Step 2. Build a small army of super fans by providing incredible value for FREE
The goal here is simple: Build an audience to help (and sell to).
Two key things for this to work:
- You need to provide high value consistently
- Only make an offer once you’ve built trust
Consistently create long form content (newsletter, YouTube videos, podcasts, etc.)
Deliver BIG value for FREE on a regular basis.
I strongly suggest starting a newsletter (like the one you’re reading right now).
Give some of your best advice for free every week, without fail.
Put time on your calendar at the same time every week to produce this content.

Take the topic of each newsletter / YouTube video and create 6 – 10 posts about the topic to promote your ideas and your newsletter.

Once you have some email subs on your list, you’re still not ready to offer your own digital products yet — you haven’t built enough trust with your audience.
But that doesn’t mean you can start making money right away…
⚡Step 3. Recommend affiliate products to solve their immediate need (and make quick money)
Most want to immediately rush to start selling their own digital products (including myself at one time).
Resist this — Sell affiliate products instead.
Affiliate offers are wonderful because you can build trust AND make money at the same time⚡
Affiliate sells are simple.
⚡Here’s how they work:
1. Find products people in your niche already uses, google search the brand name and look to see if they have an affiliate program
2. Sign up for their affiliate program — some approve you instantly, others take a day or so.
3. Use the links they provide in your long-form content.
When your audience buys something using your links, you get a commissionđź’°
It’s a win-win. You’re not selling them anything, just referring tools and products they weren’t aware of — these products help them solve their problems.
During this time — continue to resist to make your own products until you have validated that what you want to sell is in the highest demand.
⚡Step 4. Sell your own digital products to solve their problems better than anything else on the internet
Listen to your followers —
- What questions are they asking the most in your emails and DMs?
- What affiliate products are selling the best for you?
The type of digital product you create depends on your audience — let THEM tell you.
Quick Example:
By 2013, Nathan Barry had become a successful author and freelance designer with a nice sized audience of aspiring authors and UX designers.
At that time Mailchimp was one of the most popular email marketing platforms on the market — Nathan used Mailchimp and recommended it to all his followers.
And with monthly subscription fees ranging from $10/month to $99/month, I’m sure Nathan was raking in serious affiliate commissions đź’°đź’°đź’°
